Medical and Healthcare Simulation
This programme offers the opportunity to study all aspects of simulation as way of providing education and training to others, whilst grounding it firmly in a sound evidence based knowledge of educational theory and practice. Students have the opportunity to study all aspects of the theory and practice of health and medical education in the workplace, the design, and delivery of scenarios and simulation sessions, planning simulation facilities, programming simulators. Students also have the opportunity to study medical emergencies and managing risk, leadership and teamwork, business skills, and evidence based practice.
An Honours degree in a related discipline. Applicants with evidence of equivalent professional/academic experience will also be considered, normally 2 years full-time (or equivalent) experience within a relevant field of practice whilst enrolled on the programme. if English is not the 1st language an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent is required.
Modules include: Health and medical simulation (design and delivery); health and medical education in the workplace; evidence-based practice; medical emergencies and human error; managing risk; improving services; business skills for clinicians; service improvement project; healthcare disciplines project; optional modules: leadership in practice; work-based learning in health and medical practice; ethics and law at the beginning and the end of life; complaints and negligence in clinical practice; consent and confidentiality in clinical practice.
