Banking and Finance

This course has a strong focus on enhancing management opportunities in areas such as investment banking; retail banking and other financial institutions. Students develop critical insights through the use of guest speakers from the commercial world such as Royal Bank of Scotland and Yorkshire Bank who will inform students about current practices and developments, such as aspects of risk management.

Entry requirements

A good 1st degree (2.2 or above) in accountancy, finance, business or economics. Applicants holding an appropriate professional qualification from one of the professional accountancy bodies who are members of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB), may be considered if admissions criteria has been met. Applicants holding other professional qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.

Course modules

Modules include: Applied banking and financial modelling; corporate financial management; personal investment finance and portfolio management; international finance; international economics; globalisation and financial crisis; corporate governance; research design and analysis; dissertation.

Assessment methods

Variety of assessment methods which can include assignments, case studies, group projects and presentations and examinations.
