The course has been designed to offer you the opportunity to develop the business skills needed to aspire to management positions in any profession. The course helps prepare for a career in business management and leadership in the UK or overseas through development of appropriate skills at a professional or equivalent level. The course structure provides a set of modules covering fundamental business skills essential for understanding the contemporary business environment. It includes the advanced study of organisations, their management and the changing external context in which they operate. With this business tool-kit you have the opportunity to increase your awareness and confidence when dealing with the complex issues professionals face in a volatile globalized economy. Emphasis is placed on developing a critical perspective toward research, practice, and decision-making using real world examples. In addition, the course requirements target the development of an ability to apply knowledge and understanding of business and management to complex issues, both systematically and creatively, to improve business and management practice.

Entry requirements

A good 1st degree in any subject or equivalent. Other professional qualifications considered on a case-by-case basis. You will be given the opportunity to capitalise on previous experience and learning through the University's APLA and APEL accredited schemes. Practicing managers with relevant experience and academic potential will be considered on an exceptional basis. International applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in English language. You will normally be required to meet a score of 6.0 on International English Language Tests.

Course modules

Introduction to project management; strategic marketing; management development (venture creation and the enterprising self); managing people in organisations; finance for managers; human resource strategy; service operations and marketing; corporate responsibility and governance; dissertation.
