Management with Marketing
This course is designed for students who have not previously studied business but who would like to work in a marketing related field. In addition to developing students knowledge of marketing, the course provides a core body of management and professional skills which allow students to work effectively in a business or public sector organisation.
A good Honours degree (2.2 or above) in any subject (normally not a business-related subject). An equivalent professional qualification. Admission will be given to practising managers with relevant experience and academic potential to achieve the award on an exceptional basis. If English is not the 1st language, applicants are expected to demonstrate English language ability at a level equivalent to IELTs 6.0 (TOEFL 550 or Computer Based 213) before commencing studies.
Term 1: Marketing management; finance for managers; introduction to project management; specialist marketing option. Term 2: Strategic management; the human element of project management; research methods and techniques; specialist marketing option. Specialist marketing options include: International marketing; international trade operations; direct and relationship marketing; public relations and sponsorship management.
All teaching and assessment is grounded in real-life situations and, where possible, live projects are incorporated into the teaching and use is also made of guest speakers.
