The normal entry requirements are: A 2.2 Honours degree or above in an appropriate subject or equivalent. Alternative qualifications and/or significant experience may be accepted, subject to approval. Applicants should submit a digital version of a portfolio of design or graphic work together with their application. The portfolio must contain between 5 and 10 A4 pages of work, and include design, sketches and other kinds of graphic work. Preference should be given to work that is relevant to the discipline of urban design. The portfolio should provide evidence of their individual contribution (rather than team work), including critical observation and other analytical skills, as well as the capability to represent their ideas through a design based activity. A sample piece of written work (one page) should also be included.
Core modules: Integrated urban design and architecture; theory history and emerging urban trends; urban design planning and development; research methods; major project. Optional modules (choose 1 from a list which may include): Environmental impacts of buildings and urban development; communities engagement for social innovation.
Assessment will include coursework, presentation, work-based learning and examination.
