Engineering Management

This course provides you with the capabilities required in advanced software design, development and project management to enhance your career as a software development professional. The course is taught principally through lectures, tutorials, studio-based assignment work and lab-based research activities. In the lab-based work you will have access to our facilities such as 4-post ride simulator, 2-wheel dynamometer, 3 engine test rigs, 1 transient engine test rig, wind tunnel, condition monitoring equipment, thermal camera and modal analysis equipment.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements for this course are usually the following: Honours degree (or equivalent experience) in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, engineering systems or a closely related science subject area.

Course modules

Core modules: Professional development and research methods; total quality engineering; strategic management; new product development; project management; finance for managers; development of dimensional measurement; individual project; major research project.

Assessment methods

We aim to arrange your major project in relation to an existing industrial engineering management problem. Assessment methods reflect the emphasis of the course on the ability to apply knowledge and skills, and are diversely linked to examination, assignment, project work, research and lab activities.
