Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYTS)
Early Years teachers will be specialists in early childhood development and will train to work with babies and young children from birth to 5. Early Years Teacher Status is a status awarded by the National College of Teaching and Leadership on behalf of the Department of Education.
GCSEs at grade C or above in English Language, maths and science; these need to have been gained prior to application for the course. Ordinary or Honours degree; ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken standard English. Applicants must have passed skills tests in literacy and numeracy before they start their initial teacher training course. Please note that applicants must have registered for the tests before they are offered an interview. Recent and sustained experience in a school or setting with children aged 0 to 5 years. A health check and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be completed prior to acceptance on the course.
