The course offers professionals from a variety of multidisciplinary backgrounds the opportunity to further develop and extend their particular area of practice. Students broaden their understanding and knowledge of global healthcare issues by studying with health professionals, social workers and others working within health services in specialist areas, as well as professionals from elsewhere in the world.
Applicants must be a health or social care practitioner, registered with a professional body such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Have an Honours degree at 2.2 or above. Applicants educated outside the UK, you are required to have International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at a score of 6.5 with no lower than a 6.0 in any single component. If you have alternative qualifications or do not meet the IELTS requirement we also offer a range of Pre-Sessional English Programmes. Applicants may be eligible to gain accreditation for your prior learning towards this course.Please note: if you select the Supporting Learning in Practice module, you will require access to learners in clinical practice.
Modules include: critical appraisal of research literature; research project preparation; project (health related). With optional modules: advanced practice in diabetes care; assessment; care and management of acute/critical illness or injury; assessment of the acutely/critically ill adult; best interest assessor; self management and behaviour change; international perspectives in health and social care; leadership and management for healthcare practice; leg ulcer management (distance learning); long term conditions.
Action plans, oral examinations, practical examinations and written examinations, learning contracts, reports and written essays and e-portfolio.
