University of Hull
Primary Education (Upper Primary, 5-11)
This programme is designed to prepare trainees for teaching children in the 511 age range. Only around 80 places are available for this very popular programme. You are therefore advised to apply early and to put Hull first on the application form. We are particularly interested in applicants who have good Honours degrees. Preference is given to applicants who can show experience of work with children especially recent work in primary schools and can demonstrate a commitment to primary education. All courses of initial teacher training for primary teachers are designed to enable UK trainees to meet the Teachers Standards.
At least GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in mathematics, English and science; candidates must have some experience of working in primary schools, either voluntarily or as a teaching assistant; a 2.1 or 1st degree is preferred, in a subject which has some elements relevant to the primary curriculum; evidence of a broad subject knowledge base; a good reference and a strong commitment to primary education.
