Secondary Education (Physics with Mathematics)
This course, based at the Hull Campus, is intended for those wishing to teach in the 11-18 age range and is delivered by the University together with approximately 70 partnership schools; trainees spend 1/3 of their course studying at the University with dedicated subject tutors, and the remainder is spent on 2 teaching practices in 2 different schools; in school every trainee has the benefit of both a professional tutor, and a subject specific, personal mentor to guide them through their teaching practice; the region allows trainees to gain experience in a wide variety of school types: urban or rural, large or small, comprehensive or selective, denominational, country, grant-maintained or independent; successful completion of this course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), subject to satisfactory performance in skills tests.
An appropriate UK degree or equivalent qualification; GCSE grade C (or above) passes in English language and mathematics; approved equivalent qualifications are considered; equivalency tests in both subjects are offered for those who do not have the required grades; admission to the programme is also subject to a satisfactory medical report and an Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau check.
