Successful completion leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), subject to satisfactory performance in skills tests; the course is based at the Hull campus is intended for those wishing to teach in the 11-18 age range and is delivered by the University together with approximately 70 partnership schools; these schools are based primarily in Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire, North and North East Lincolnshire; trainees spend one third of their course studying at the University with dedicated subject tutors, and the remainder on teaching practice in two different schools; in school every trainee has the benefit of both a professional tutor and a subject specific personal mentor to guide them through their teaching practice.
An appropriate UK degree or equivalent qualification; GCSE grade C (or above) passes in English language and mathematics; approved equivalent qualifications are considered and equivalency tests are offered for those who do not have the required grades; admission to the programme is also subject to a satisfactory medical report and an Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau check.
