Advanced Practice

Designed to meet demand for advanced practice studies within health and social care, this programme provides the next step in career progression and academic development. This inter-professional programme allows you to focus on specialist pathways, whilst maintaining a focus on the core principles of advanced practice including: leadership, professionalism, inter-professional communication, and service development and evaluation.

Entry requirements

Typically you are expected to have a minumum 2:2 Honours degree in nursing, midwifery or another relevant discipline, plus appropriate experience in a professional environment.

International students - Competence in English is required for international students. For example: IELTS with 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each skill; previous study in English is accepted; candidates that do not meet the language requirements may take an English course at the University of Hull prior to entering the programme.

Course modules

Year 1 (Postgraduate Certificate): Introduction to physical health assessment; advanced decision making in practice; core skills for physical health assessment.
Year 2 (Postgraduate Diploma):Optional discipline-specific module; research and literature review methods; advanced practice informed learning.
Year 3 (MSc): Dissertation.
