In today's dynamic world in which businesses and markets at the local and global levels are highly interconnected, economics offers fundamental insights that are essential for well-informed business decisions and policy making. Our Economics and Business programme will offer you such insights; it will provide knowledge and understanding both of economic principles and analysis, and of business applications, all informed by current scholarship and research. You acquire economic skills relevant to business through the study of quantitative methods and the economic analysis of business data, developing expertise which is highly sought-after in the competitive business arena.

Entry requirements

This conversion programme is designed for graduates from any discipline keen to acquire understanding and skills in business economics. You will have a minumum 2:2 honours degree or equivalent, be comfortable with quantitative approaches, and have a good command of English.; International applicants - Competence in English is required for international students. For example: IELTS with 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each skill; previous study in English is accepted; candidates that do not meet the language requirements may take an English course at the University of Hull prior to entering the programme.

Course modules

You will study subjects such as:;

economics for business;
statistical analysis of economic data;
the international business context;
regulation of competition, trade and industry;
current issues in business economics;

There's also an optional module which, typically, allows you to strengthen your understanding of an aspect of business, such as business strategy, corporate social responsibility, or money and banking.;

As with many of our programmes, you will also study research methods and ethics, and undertake a dissertation
