International Economics

This is a specialist advanced programme in international economics, which reflects the fundamental importance of economics to understanding and shaping the world economy. Students develop a critical awareness of the theory, developments and current issues in economics and international economics, an appreciation of the policy context, and an ability to apply economic principles and methods to analyse the international economy.

Entry requirements

A minimum 2:2 Honours degree or equivalent in economics, strong quantitative skills, and a good command of English. International applicants - Competence in English is required for international students. For this course IELTS with 6.5 overall with 5.5 in each skill is required; previous study in English is accepted; candidates that do not meet the language requirements may take an English course at the University of Hull prior to entering the programme.

Course modules

You will study subjects such as:;

advanced microeconomic theory and analysis;
advanced macroeconomic theory and analysis;
econometric theory and applications;
international trade and trade policy;
international macroeconomics and finance;
economic growth and international development;

As with many of our programmes, you will also study professional skills and ethics, research methods and undertake a dissertation.
