Advanced Computer Science
This course appeals to computing graduates whose interests span more than one specialism and/or those seeking the freedom to explore a variety of advanced topics. Depending on the options chosen, this course can serve as a springboard for employment or research.
A 1st, 2.1 or good 2.2 Honours degree (or equivalent) in computing or a related subject.
Modules include: Advanced java for programmers or introduction to object-oriented programming; advanced object-oriented programming; project research; project and dissertation.
Assessment is through a mixture of written examinations and coursework, the relative weights of which vary according to the nature of the module. The final project is assessed by a dissertation, except for the MSc in IT Consultancy for which the practical consultancy work is assessed through a series of reports covering each of the projects undertaken.
