Financial Engineering and Financial Risk Management

The programme is designed for those with strong mathematical skills who seek a career in financial risk management. The international aspect enables students to gain a deeper and wider learning experience and to benefit from networking opportunities during their studies and after graduation. The programme will afford students the opportunity to pursue their chosen specialism via two streams, one in financial engineering and the other in risk management. Students may concentrate on either of these depending on their interest and career aspirations. Financial risk management and financial engineering are two sides of the same coin.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree (2.1 or above) in a relevant subject, such as accounting, finance, economics, business, engineering or other sciences. Graduates with degrees without the required mathematical content may be advised to attend a two-week preparatory course in mathematics and statistics prior to the start of the programme. Students whose first language is not English are required to have an appropriate grade/score in an approved English language examination. We recommend taking a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as IELTS or Pearson (PTE).

Assessment methods

Assessment is by a combination of coursework and written examinations.
