As a University of Law student, you will have access to the country’s largest and most varied pro bono programme with 3,700 opportunities to experience life as a lawyer through supervised placements or shadowing practitioners. Not to mention the UK’s largest legal mentoring scheme, with the support of over 550 practising lawyers.
Our record speaks for itself, 57% of our 2016 BPTC graduates received offers of pupillage with 22% of our full-time students receiving the top “Outstanding” grade (the national average is 9%). And for two years running, 97% of our full-time LPC students secured employment within nine months of graduation.
Our innovative business focused postgraduate courses are designed and taught by lawyers with real commercial experience and have a strong emphasis on building the practical skills that today’s employers are looking for:
Graduate Diploma in Law (full-time / part-time / online) The Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) is the conversion course for non-law graduate who want to become a solicitor or barrister. Designed to build knowledge and skills that more than match a law degree, academic training is built around real life case studies. You’ll have the opportunity to explore an area of law that interests you via your own Research Project or our unique Law of Organisations module.
Legal Practice Course (full-time / part-time / online) We’re confident that our Legal Practice Course (LPC) is the best preparation to become a solicitor by offering you the skills to succeed in the business world. Future lawyers and business leaders need a wealth of skills to prepare them for today's market place. Our client focused LPC enables you to develop commercial awareness, critical thinking, project management and the networking skills that will prepare you for the challenges ahead. Study your LPC with an added MSc in Law, Business and Management or LLM in Professional Legal Practice and you could be eligible for a Postgraduate Student Loan of up to £10,000. An online option is also available leading to an LLM in International or Professional Legal Practice.
Bar Professional Training Course (full-time / part-time) Our Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) has a unique selection process which means you’ll study alongside the brightest students. Learn from qualified tutors with unparalleled experience in practice and in delivering four times the training required by the Bar Standards Board. Most of your learning will be in small groups and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to put your skills into practice via practitioner evenings, mock trials, court visits, pro bono and international and national mooting competitions organised by our dedicated Advocacy Committee. You can also benefit from our Future Pupil Programme: specialist careers advice from the moment you accept your place.
Online LLM in Legal Practice (Conflict Resolution) or Online LLM in Legal Practice (Intellectual Property)
Our Master of Laws programmes provide an excellent way to develop an in-depth knowledge and specialist skills in your chosen study area of either Conflict Resolution or Intellectual Property.
Online MSc in Law, Governance, Risk and Compliance Build international legal and GRC knowledge with our career enhancing Masters qualification delivered in collaboration with the International Compliance Association (ICA).

Each of our eight centres across the country offer state-of-the-art facilities in a modern business environment similar to the setting of a top law firm. Some have mock courtrooms to add extra realism for future barristers. So when you start your career, you’ll be completely at home in a professional legal environment.
All our IT suites are fully equipped with super-fast internet. Our libraries are filled with the latest legal texts, where you’ll receive award-winning support from our library information officers. There are also quiet study areas and chill-out zones, giving you thinking space.
If you choose a centre close to home, you can reduce your expenses during your course. However, if you choose to study elsewhere, our accommodation portal, Studentpad will help you find an affordable place to live, with the option to find a privately rented property or shared accommodation with other law students.
