Chinese and Business

This programme offers training in international business, management and Chinese language skills together with the opportunity to develop an analytical understanding of major economic issues in China and the Chinese business world; students take a 6 to 8 week summer work placement or internship in China or the East Asian region during which students improve oral and aural language skills and gain insight into China's cultural and business environment; students are required to produce a research report which draws upon the analysis of a particular business or concern of the placement organisation.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree or other equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience; IELTS 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in all components.

Course modules

Core modules: Globalisation of innovation; Chinese business; the economics of China; dissertation (either a desk-based research project or a project related to a work placement); language skills. Optional modules include: China's development; Chinese politics; cross-cultural management; international business theory; East Asian language skills.

Assessment methods

These include a dissertation.
