You will undertake original research under the supervision of 1 or more academic staff. You will be required to undertake research training offered by the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies and the University.

Entry requirements

A good undergraduate degree in a related discipline (e.g. communications; film studies; languages; area studies); if English is not the applicants 1st then they require IELTS overall score of at least 6.5 (with not less than 6.0 in all components).

Assessment methods

You will write a thesis (PhD thesis length 300 pages or 100,000 words/MPhil thesis length 200 pages or 60,000 words/MA R thesis length 100 pages or 30,000) which is examined by viva at the end of your period of study.
