East Asian Regional Development

The programme provides a compulsory core of development studies options and options relevant to social, political and economic development in East Asia including South East Asia or components of it. It also offers research training leading to the writing of a placement based research project and the opportunity to develop relevant skills in an East Asian language such as Chinese, Japanese or Thai.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree or other equivalent qualifications or work experience; IELTS 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in all components.

Course modules

Core modules: China's development; political economy of the Pacific Rim; principles and practice of research; East Asian language skills.

Assessment methods

This includes a dissertation.
