Applied Translation Studies

The distinctive focus of the programme is on computer-assisted translation, using an unrivalled range of software tools that are widely used by leading translation companies, SDL Trados Studio, SDL Passolo, memoQ, Deja Vu X3 and OmegaT. This technical module is driven by multilingual group projects, which provide valuable experience of translation project management. You also follow modules in specialised written translation between English and 1 or 2 of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

Entry requirements

A good undergraduate degree (2.1 Honours or above, or the equivalent) and an excellent command of 1 or more foreign languages. Exceptionally, candidates with equivalent qualifications or experience will be considered. For non-native English speakers, an overall IELTS score of at least 7.0 (with not less than 6.5 in all components) is required.
