Supervision available for research in all major branches of philosophy, and in most phases of history of western philosophy; staff interests include: Hobbes; Leibniz; Hume; Kant; Frege; Wittgenstein; Russell; formal and philosophic logic; history and philosophy of science; analytic metaphysics (especially ontology and modality); computer-assisted logic teaching; philosophy of language (especially analogy and metaphor); space and time; ethics; applied ethics (medical, business); jurisprudence; philosophy of art; philosophy of education; philosophy of mind; philosophy of religion; philosophy of sport.

Entry requirements

MA by Research: A good 2.1 or above in philosophy or a similar discipline; MPhil or PhD: Usually a Master's or above; English language requirements: If a candidate's 1st language is not English, they also are required to obtain proof of proficiency in the English language; they need 7.0 overall on IELTS (with a minimum of 6.5 in listening and reading, and 7 in speaking and writing).
