Theology and Public Life
The programme is designed to enhance students' understanding of the growing and contentious role of religion in the public sphere, and to explore theological responses to and modes of engagement with public life; it is most likely of interest to recent graduates in theology and/or religious studies, and also provides an opportunity for public and private sector professionals, whose work requires expertise and literacy in religious and faith matters, to reflect on best practice.
Normally a 1st degree 2.1 (MA) or 2.2 (PGDip) or equivalent in a relevant subject; if English is not the applicant's 1st language they require IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in any component).
Core modules: Theology and public life; religion and society (research processes and methods); 2 optional modules: sin, public discourse and public life; religions and global development; contemporary issues in theology, religion and gender; race and religion in southern Africa (apartheid and its aftermath).
