International Social Transformation
This programme provides students with the opportunity to explore, at an advanced level, the international focus of much recent sociological analysis, specifically in the areas of consumerism, ethics, and social inclusion/ exclusion, where there is an identified need for academically robust analysis of the complex social challenges resulting from rapid international transformation.
An Honours degree (2.1 or 1st class) in a social science discipline, or an equivalent professional qualification; relevant experience is taken into account where appropriate; candidates who have narrowly missed securing a 2.1 result may be considered on their merits.
Compulsory modules: Contemporary social thought; globalization and international development; international social transformation dissertation; optional modules: research strategy and design; qualitative research methods; 'race', identity and culture in the black Atlantic; critical theory; liquid sociology; evaluation research; from conception to the grave (health in a global context).
