Country House (Art, History and Literature)

Students study the major issues related to the study of the country house and of the literature on the subject, and to develop an understanding of the complex and changing position of the country house in its local, regional and national environment.

Entry requirements

At least a 2.1 Honours degree or its equivalent; applicants without a degree but with relevant experience considered on an individual basis.

Course modules

Modules include: the country house in history; the country house in film and television; the country house; management, preservation, education; the country house in literature; the country house and its landscapes; country house research skills; the politics of the country house.

Assessment methods

These include 2 essays of 2,500 words each or by 1 essay of 5,000 words; there will also be a compulsory dissertation of either 20,000 or 30,000 words.
