Cancer Cell and Molecular Biology

This is a practically-orientated, full-time Master's degree comprising 3 months of intensive, taught laboratory work supplemented with lectures, workshops, tutorials and seminars. This is followed by an 8 month, independent laboratory research project; students are able to choose a cancer or molecular/cell biology project in an area that they find particularly interesting. During the project, students have the opportunity to apply the theory and practical training which they acquired in the taught phase of the course. While developing the understanding of the cellular and molecular processes and techniques in cancer research, students also learn how to critically analyse research data and articles and how to communicate complex scientific concepts and processes. This Master's degree will provide students with cutting-edge knowledge and practical training in those aspects of cell biology, molecular genetics and histopathology which are required to understand the current approaches to cancer research. This training provides students with an ideal platform for pursuing further research at PhD level or for a career in medical biosciences or a related field.
