Advanced Mechanical Engineering
A 1st or good 2nd Class Honours degree in a relevant subject or a qualification recognised by the University as equivalent.
Core modules: MATLAB and CAD; individual project. Plus options chosen from: advanced fluid dynamics; advanced solid mechanics; understanding surfaces in engineering; modelling and classification of data; robust control; computational fluid dynamics; aerospace materials; advanced computational methods in materials modelling and engineering design; design of discrete systems; real-time digital signal processing; non-linear control; dynamics of mechanical systems.
Performance in modules is assessed by means of open and closed examination papers and a range of continuously assessed work. All MSc students are required to produce a dissertation including the results obtained in the individual project module.
