Data Analysis for Business Intelligence
2.2 undergraduate degree in mathematics or other numerate subject such as physics or equivalent international level. Applicants from a computer science background would be considered on a case by case basis through the assessment of the student transcript. International students will need to meet the University English language requirements for science based courses (e.g. IELTS 6.0).
Core modules: scientific computing; mathematical modelling; C++ programming and advanced algorithms; operations research; data mining and neural networks; financial services information systems; research project. Optional modules include: generalised linear models; financial mathematics 1; computational methods for partial differential equations; applied statistics; further statistics; internet and cloud computing; game theory; analysis and design of algorithms.
Assessment is through written exams, marked assignments, assessed problems, oral presentations and written project reports. The term will also include preparation of 2 IT certification exams (with mini-projects for each system): SAS and SQL.
