Business Analysis and Finance
This course applies economics to the analysis of business problems and finance; students study quantitative techniques and their application to problems in business regulation, organisation and finance, with computer training in data analysis and business problem solving.
A 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent with some quantitative methods, economics or finance courses.
Semester 1: Economics of organisation; financial statement analysis; principles of finance; quantitative methods for business and finance. Semester 2: Corporate finance; regulation of business plus 2 options and Dissertation.
Teaching is by a variety of lectures and seminars. Assessment is by written examination, assessed coursework, presentation, and a dissertation. The percentage of the final mark awarded for the continuously assessed component varies across modules. There are 8 taught modules examined in January and June followed by a 15,000 word dissertation written over the period July to September.
