Geographical Information Science (with Industrial Placement)

The course aims to provide excellent training in handling and analysis of geographic information. The teaching of these technical skills is complemented by a thorough grounding in the academic theory of geographical information. Understanding Geographical Information Systems (GIS) (the software tools) and Geographical Information Science (the technical discipline) is essential for effective management and analysis of spatial data. This 'with industry' programme has the same taught modules as the regular MSc, but also includes an industrial placement of 6 or 12 months, designed to enhance your practical, applied skills and career prospects. Note that the 'with industry' degree has higher entry requirements and a higher fee than the regular MSc, and is not available to part-time students.
