Secondary Education (History)
The course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS); students spend 24 out of 36 weeks in school placements; history is facing many challenges within the present education system; the course is a relevant subject which plays a major role in helping children to develop a better understanding of the increasingly complex world around them; as a trainee teacher, students have the opportunity to develop their personal and professional skills and expand their subject knowledge; the programme is both challenging and rewarding and develops both enthusiasm and confidence as a historian and a teacher.
Degree (2.1 or above preferred) with at least 50 per cent of content in subject specialism; GCSE English and mathematics grade C or above, or equivalent; interview
Continuous assessment is used throughout the course and there are no examinations.
