University of Lincoln
The course supports those who wish to develop the critical, practical and professional aspects of their art practice to the highest level, encouraging creative risk-taking and intellectual enquiry. Teaching and learning takes place through reflective practice, combining theoretical discourse, critical enquiry and multidisciplinary art practices set within broader regional, national and international contexts. Students experience and contribute to peer-learning, generating a stimulating, critically challenging environment both within the School of Art and Design and within the vibrant cultural community of public galleries and spaces, and artist-run projects. Medium-specific specialist themes are available, which aim to recognise the increased material focus of advanced practice for Fine Art practitioners. The culmination of the MA is the outcome of the students research through a professionally presented exhibition or equivalent.
2.1 or higher in a relevant subject area. In some cases relevant professional experience may also be considered.
Modules include critical studio research; critical studio practice; exhibition.
Students are assessed in a variety of ways, through spoken presentations, written submission and, most importantly, the presentation of critically grounded art work.
All UK or EU students who hold a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree from another institution will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees when they enrol on a University of Lincoln taught Master's programme. The scholarship is offset against tuition fee payments due for each academic year of study. Please note that the Master of Architecture (Part Two) and MBA programmes are exceptions to this scheme, as other scholarships are in place for those courses.
