International Design Enterprise

This internationally focused programme combines creativity with entrepreneurism to provide business knowledge to designers who wish to develop their own enterprises or take an entrepreneurial role in the design industry. Within the MAIDE studios, live projects provide the opportunity to evaluate the commercial potential of students' own designs. Students will learn the key entrepreneurial concepts necessary to develop creative and commercially viable outputs for an international audience. Study modes include critiques, interactive presentations, international communications strategies and reviews. Students will have opportunities to work collaboratively with colleagues across the institution and have access to specialist support and expertise from eminent practitioners and external visiting speakers.

Entry requirements

A minimum 2.1 Honours degree in a related subject or considerable work experience in the field.
Applicants will need to present a portfolio that demonstrates creative awareness and submit 2 academic references. Mature students can gain non-standard entry if they possess appropriate professional experience, creative design and research skills and critical design studies knowledge.
International students will require English language at IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each element, or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: creative problem-solving methods for designers; design debates; entrepreneurial effectiveness; research-led practice and practice-led research; creative solutions for design innovation and enterprise; design and development of new products and markets; major design research project.

Assessment methods

Assessment is conducted throughout the academic year and consists of a combination of practical portfolio, presentation and critical appraisal.

Sponsorship information

All UK or EU students who hold a 1st or Upper 2nd Class Honours degree from another institution will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees when they enrol on a University of Lincoln taught Master's programme. The scholarship is offset against tuition fee payments due for each academic year of study. Please note that the Master of Architecture (Part 2) and MBA programmes are exceptions to this scheme, as other scholarships are in place for those courses.
