Sports Journalism

On this programme, students will be taught to report on local and national sports events and given the opportunity to broadcast and produce their own sports content on 1 of the campus-based media platforms. The School of English and Journalism enjoys close working relationships with BBC Sport and BBC Radio 5 Live, Talk Sport, MUTV, ITV and Lincoln's award-winning newspaper, the Lincolnshire Echo. The programme's work placement scheme gives students the opportunity to gain practical experience for a career in this sector.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a 2.2 Honours degree. International students will require English language at IELTS 7.0 with no less than 6.5 in each element, or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: contemporary issues in sports journalism; core broadcast; core writing; final project or dissertation; research and professional placement; specialist sports reporting and production.

Assessment methods

Assessments are a mixture of essays, presentations, portfolios of journalism, broadcast media packages and timed examinations.

Sponsorship information

All UK or EU students who hold a 1st or Upper 2nd Class Honours degree from another institution will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees when they enrol on a University of Lincoln taught Master's programme. The scholarship is offset against tuition fee payments due for each academic year of study.
