Choreographing Live Art

The MA Choreographic Live Art is a rigorous programme in contemporary performance practice. Students have the opportunity to complete an artistic residence abroad during their studies. At the heart of the programme lies a combination of contemporary performance practice and cutting-edge somatic investigations where the body is prioritised as the subject, tool and material of a performance. Informed by critical theory, this programme positions choreography next to live art and aims to explore their precarious and emerging relationship.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 2.1 Honours degree in performance, dance, choreography, design, visual arts drama and theatre studies, Somatic Practices or similar. In exceptional circumstances, candidates with a 2.2 degree may be considered if they have a Master's degree.

Course modules

Modules include: advanced somatic practices & choreography; the body explicit; the transgressive body; delivery and curation; experimentation and studio practice.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on formal written papers, documentation, performances and lecture demonstrations.

Sponsorship information

All UK or EU students who hold a 1st or Upper 2nd Class Honours degree from another institution will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees when they enrol on a University of Lincoln taught Master's programme.
