International Tourism Management

This course offers graduates an international focus to all tourism-related modules of study. We have a number of links with tourism enterprises and the programme prepares students for a variety of careers in the industry. Tourism-related activities account for an increasing share of the total market value of most countries today, which has led to an increasing demand for tourism specialists with advanced skills. This course provides an opportunity to explore issued relating to situations and challenges likely to be faced by tourism professionals. Themes such as sustainability run throughout the programme, which is strongly based on cutting-edge research and management activity undertaken by academics, visiting lecturers and industry managers.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a 2.2 Honours degree in a related field, or an equivalent qualification. Student with substantial work experience may also be considered.

Course modules

Modules include sustainable development for tourism; the tourist as consumer; the study of tourism; managing tourism enterprises; the making and management of tourist destinations; the visitor experience at cultural and heritage attractions; advanced research methods for tourism and hospitality; airports for tourism; dissertation.

Assessment methods

We offer a variety of assessment types, from presentations, blogs and virtual conferences to exams, though most of your assessed work takes the form of essays and reports. You may even participate in a live project, such as a visitor audit at a local attraction, as part of your assessment.

Sponsorship information

All UK or EU students who hold a 1st or Upper 2nd Class Honours degree from another institution will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees when they enrol on a University of Lincoln taught Master's programme. The scholarship is offset against tuition fee payments due for each academic year of study. Please note that the Master of Architecture (Part 2) and MBA programmes are exceptions to this scheme, as other scholarships are in place for those courses.
