International Tourism Management

This course offers an international focus to the study of tourism-related activities. It seeks to equip graduates with the body of knowledge required to work at senior levels in this growing sector. The modules of study on this programme address the challenges faced by tourism professionals in an evolving global industry and students will develop the analytical skills necessary to evaluate trends and markets. Industry-relevant themes, such as sustainability and globalism, are integrated throughout this programme. Students will learn from experienced academics in the Lincoln Business School who have international expertise and significant practitioner experience. Particular specialisms include consumer culture, aviation management, and cultural and heritage attractions management. This course will provide students with the theoretical insights and knowledge to operate as an informed senior manager in the tourism industry.

Entry requirements

A 2:2 Honours degree or substantial relevant work experience. International students will require English language at IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each element, or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: advanced research methods for tourism and hospitality; aviation planning and management; dissertation in international tourism management; event management; finance and accounting; sustainability of tourism and events; the making and management of tourist destinations; the tourist as consumer; the visitor experience at cultural and heritage attractions.

Assessment methods

We offer a variety of assessment types, from presentations, blogs and virtual conferences to exams, though most of your assessed work takes the form of essays and reports. You may even participate in a live project, such as a visitor audit at a local attraction, as part of your assessment.

Sponsorship information

All UK or EU students who hold a 1st or Upper 2nd Class Honours degree from another institution will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees when they enrol on a University of Lincoln taught Master's programme. The scholarship is offset against tuition fee payments due for each academic year of study. Please note that the Master of Architecture (Part 2) and MBA programmes are exceptions to this scheme, as other scholarships are in place for those courses.
