International Business

This programme provides students with an opportunity to study business in a global context, while applying the ideas of responsible and sustainable futures to business operations. The course is designed to develop academic knowledge and practical skills, helping students to achieve excellence in both academia and industry. Students gain a firm grounding in the theories and practice of international business, equipping them to make a major contribution to the performance of organisations of all types in global environments. A number of specialist pathways are available to enable students to tailor their learning to their career aspirations or the needs of their current employer. These are: tourism and logistics; entrepreneurship; regional business; general management.

Entry requirements

A minimum 2.2 Honours degree or substantial, relevant industrial or commercial experience. International students will require English language at IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each element, or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: international marketing and customers; international trade theory and practice; people and global organisations; research design and methods; strategy making; understanding international business; finance and accounting; dissertation. Optional modules may include: analysing fiction; business analysis, statistics, and operational research; community organisation, sustainability and development; comparative human resource management; consultancy project; crisis communications; disaster management; dynamic systems modelling; global supply strategies; humanitarian logistics; international entrepreneurship; social entrepreneurship; start-up venture; sustainability leadership.

Assessment methods

All taught modules at Certificate and Diploma level will be assessed by the equivalent of written work amounting to between 4,000 and 5,000 words. This may constitute an essay, report, or examination. For the Dissertation, at Master's stage, participants will produce a research-focused dissertation of 15,000 words.

Sponsorship information

All UK or EU students who hold a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree from another institution will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees when they enrol on a University of Lincoln taught Master's programme. The scholarship is offset against tuition fee payments due for each academic year of study. Please note that the Master of Architecture (Part Two) and MBA programmes are exceptions to this scheme, as other scholarships are in place for those courses.
