Events Management

This internationally focused programme is designed to prepare students for a career in the events industry at a senior level. Course content is research-informed and up-to-date with the latest sector trends. This specialist programme offers an appreciation of the theoretical insights, knowledge and practical competences that are required in the events workplace. Through a combination of theoretical and practice-oriented study, students will develop the knowledge and skill set required to conceive, promote and manage events successfully. There is an emphasis on strategic insight and a critical understanding of the operating environment. Students learn from, and work alongside, academics with significant research, consultancy and practitioner experience. Throughout the programme students will benefit from engagement with industry professionals and visiting speakers.

Entry requirements

A minimum 2.2 Honours degree or substantial work experience. International students will require English language at IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each element, or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: advanced research methods for tourism and hospitality; arts, performance and society; dissertation in international tourism management; event management; events based consultancy project; finance and accounting; sustainability of tourism and events; the new marketing environment; the visitor experience at cultural and heritage attractions.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include written and oral presentation, numeracy, and the use of software for presentation and analysis.

Sponsorship information

All UK or EU students who hold a 1st or Upper 2nd Class Honours degree from another institution will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees when they enrol on a University of Lincoln taught Master's programme. The scholarship is offset against tuition fee payments due for each academic year of study. Please note that the Master of Architecture (Part 2) and MBA programmes are exceptions to this scheme, as other scholarships are in place for those courses.
