Globalising Justice

This programme that offers the opportunity to comprehensively explore the concepts of human rights and criminal and social justice at an advanced level. This Master's degree places particular emphasis upon contemporary developments and current debate. It is based on the core themes of governance, criminal justice and citizenship, into which students will undertake an in-depth investigation. Students will develop a critical understanding of the interaction between the policy-making processes, mechanisms and institutions that influence the globalisation of justice. The specialist knowledge and global perspective students acquire through this programme will be particularly relevant and beneficial to practitioners employed in health, housing, education, social welfare services, the criminal justice system, the police and probation services.

Entry requirements

A good Honours degree (usually a 2.1 or above) or extensive, relevant experience.
International students will require English language at IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each element, or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: international human rights; terrorism; children and social justice; transition from communism to post communism; global issues in gender and sexuality.

Assessment methods

Each programme is assessed by a range of assignments and, in the case of the Master's award, by dissertation as well. Students may graduate from their particular programme at intermediate levels.

Sponsorship information

All UK or EU students who hold a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree from another institution will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees when they enrol on a University of Lincoln taught Master's programme. The scholarship is offset against tuition fee payments due for each academic year of study. Please note that the Master of Architecture (Part Two) and MBA programmes are exceptions to this scheme, as other scholarships are in place for those courses.
