This programme adopts an interdisciplinary approach to sport science, with an emphasis on applied work and community engagement. The MSc Sport Science is designed for both recent graduates and for professional practitioners who wish to update their knowledge of the science underpinning their work. It utilises the School's expertise in biomechanics, physiology and psychology to provide students with a broad understanding and practical experience in these areas, while giving you the opportunity to specialise in a chosen discipline. core modules develop knowledge and skills in sport science and the research process in preparation for undertaking applied scientific practice and an independent research project. A range of real-world assessments emphasise the practical application of sport science knowledge.
A good Honours degree in sport science or a related discipline, plus a successful interview. Applicants with extensive professional experience but no Honours degree may be considered.
Modules include research methods and skills; biomechanics; physiology; psychology; applied sport science support; investigation and communication in applied sport science; dissertation.
Assessment methods include an applied support portfolio, delivery of a workshop, applied practical assessments, written reports, a debate and a dissertation.
All UK or EU students who hold a 1st or Upper 2nd Class Honours degree from another institution will receive a 20% reduction in tuition fees when they enrol on a University of Lincoln taught Master's programme. The scholarship is offset against tuition fee payments due for each academic year of study.
