Accounting and Finance

The programme provides the opportunity for students with a degree in any subject to undertake a diploma in professional studies that will lead them to become a part qualified accountant. This conversion programme also allows students to obtain exemptions from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examinations. The programme provides the opportunity to study at the University of Liverpool in London in Finsbury Square at the heart of the City of London and on the edge of the 'Square Mile' financial district where the worlds of finance and accounting meet, with ready access to many potential employers. On completion of the programme, students can be actively considered to continue for a further year to complete the MSc Accounting programme which can lead to becoming a fully exam qualified accountant after 2 years of study.

Entry requirements

You will normally need to have a a Bachelor's degree (with Honours) at 2.1 level or better in any subject. Alternative qualifications and all non-UK qualifications (which are considered equivalent to a UK Honours degree). Students whose 1st language is not English will require evidence of proficiency in the English language: IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component); or TOEFL iBT 88 or above with minimum scores in components as follows: Listening and writing 21; reading 22; speaking 23. International Baccalaureate Standard Level (Grade 5); Hong Kong use of English AS Level C; India Standard XII 70 per cent or above from Central and Metro State Boards; WAEC C4-6.

Course modules

Semester 1 modules include: Introduction to financial accounting; auditing and assurance; introduction to management accounting; business and finance. Semester 2 modules include: Financial reporting; strategy in business; performance management; corporate and business law. Summer modules include: Personal and business taxation; financial strategy and management.
