Financial Risk Management
One crucial aspect of a successful organisation is its ability to manage exposures to risk. In the financial markets, the ability to manage risky positions effectively is both a fundamental skill and a regulatory requirement. This programme will provide you with the mathematical and econometric skills and financial training necessary to address the issues related to quantifying, pricing and managing exposures to risk in the financial markets. Upon completion of the programme students will be able to: Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the fundamental theories used to price securities and derivative securities, derive and apply these models appropriately when quantifying, pricing and managing risk, identify, quantify and manage exposures to financial risk, construct and manage a portfolio of risky securities as well as use appropriate mathematical and econometric tools to quantify, price and manage exposure to financial risk.
Compulsory modules: Quantitative modelling of risk; portfolio theory; probability essentials for financial calculus; financial markets; financial risk management; financial engineering; dissertation; stochastic modelling in finance. Optional modules: International finance; research methods and modelling; security and investment analysis.
