Microelectronic Systems

On this programme you will develop knowledge and skills in key aspects of telecommunications and wireless systems including the latest developments. Core topics include: wireless systems and computer aided designs; signal processing; digital and cellular radio communications systems; information theory and coding; communication networks and security; research skills and project management.

Entry requirements

A 2.1 Honours degree in a relevant subject such as electrical and electronics engineering, physics and computer science or equivalent. A 2.2 Honours degree may be considered if strong performance in relevant, formally assessed modules is demonstrated or the applicant has relevant industrial experiences. All applicants must have reached a minimum required standard of English language, qualifications accepted include GCSE English; A-level English; language; IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component); TOEFL iBT 88 or above with minimum scores in components as follows: listening and writing 21, reading 22, speaking 23.

Course modules

Core modules: Integrated circuits, concepts and design; digital system design; embedded computer systems; research skills and project management; mems design and nanotechnology; software engineering and programming; microprocessor systems; optional modules: project.

Assessment methods

The project is examined by dissertation.
