Advanced Aerospace Engineering

Through this programme, students will develop an understanding of the core subjects in advanced aerospace engineering, along with knowledge and skills in mathematics, computing, design and business studies. Additionally, they will develop the wider transferable skills of analysis, problem-solving, communication and team-working.

Entry requirements

Normally a UK 2:1 or equivalent but students graduating from a UK university with a 2:2 degree can be considered on a case by case basis. This should be in Engineering or Science with appropriate knowledge of core engineering science topics at bachelor degree level.

Course modules

Compulsory modules: flight handling qualities; aeroelasticity; advanced aerodynamics; advanced aerostructural analyses; aerospace capstone group design project; technical writing for engineers; research skills and project planning; enterprise studies; project. Optional modules: spaceflight; rotorcraft flight; composite materials; Ic engines; finite element analysis; computer aided design; advanced fluid mechanics; advanced guidance systems; uncertainty, reliability and risk 1; structural optimisation; advanced mathematical methods.

Assessment methods

Dissertation.
