Sustainable Civil and Structural Engineering

The aim of the programme is to provide a specialist, technical Masters-level education in civil and structural engineering. The programme is designed to embed the knowledge, skills and understanding required to critically assess the function, use and impacts of concrete, steel and alternative construction materials in structural designs and to participate in the conception, design, implementation and evaluation of structural engineering projects which contribute to sustainable development in the context of local, regional, national and global environmental challenges.

Entry requirements

Bachelors degree (with Honours) at 2nd Class (2.2) level or better and in an appropriate field of study. Equivalent overseas degrees together with an acceptable English language qualification are also accepted. Individual consideration is given to mature engineers with significant and relevant experience and with professional qualifications.

Course modules

Core modules: Climate change, adaptation and mitigation; advanced concrete structures; structural systems; research skills and project planning; structural steelwork, timber and masonry; materials for durable and sustainable construction; foundation engineering; MSc(eng) project.
