The programme will allow you to acquire knowledge of the historiography in your chosen field, including methods of historical research and culminating in an extended dissertation of up to 20,000 words in length � over the course of a year for full-time students or two years for part-time students. You will conduct extensive primary and secondary research into your chosen field, before finally writing up your findings in a major piece of historical research. The dissertation should be considered a first step toward developing research output of genuine historical significance.
All applicants must have reached a minimum required standard of English language, qualifications accepted include GCSE English; A-level English language; IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component). TOEFL iBT 88 or above with minimum scores in components as follows: listening and writing 21, reading 22, speaking 23.
Modules include: Historical research; historical practice; MRes feasibility study; MRes dissertation.
