Advanced Chemical Sciences
A minimum of a 2.1 BSc Honours degree or equivalent in chemistry. Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent.
Compulsory modules: introduction to research; research project. Optional modules: main group organic chemistry 1; asymmetric synthesis and main group organic chemistry; solid state chemistry, structure and properties; supramolecular chemistry; advanced spectroscopy; electrochemistry; molecular modelling; chemical database skills; further inorganic chemistry; further organic chemistry; medicinal chemistry of anti-infectives; protein structure and dynamics; modelling of functional materials and interfaces; chemical biology- the chemistry of life; lanthanide and actinide chemistry; organic electronics; asymmetric catalysis for organic and pharmaceutical; basic physics for nanotechnology; heterocyclic chemistry and drug synthesis; further physical chemistry; introduction to polymer chemistry.
