For this course students will be asked to choose 4 core modules and 4 elective modules, and to complete a project and dissertation to the value of 180 credits. It's also possible to qualify for a Diploma (120 credits) by completing the 4 core modules plus 4 elective modules; or a Certificate (60 credits) by completing the 4 core modules.

Entry requirements

A degree in a physical science (or closely related subject). Relevant industrial experience can be an alternative, subject to references. The MRes programme requires applicants to have completed a degree in a physical or engineering science (or closely related subject). All applicants must have reached a minimum required standard of English language, qualifications accepted include GCSE English; A-level English; language; IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5) in each component); TOEFL iBT 88 or above with minimum scores in components as follows: listening and writing 21, reading 22, speaking 23.
