Financial and Actuarial Mathematics - taught in London at University of Liverpool in London

Please note the fees are indicative of 2016 courses. The programme incorporates all mathematical techniques, knowledge and skills required for careers in modern actuary. This programme is oriented towards students who want to receive a high-profile education in quantitative finance and actuarial science; it will equip you with the mathematical, financial and computational skills needed to quantify and manage risk effectively in today�s finance, investment and insurance industries. Graduates of this program are qualified to assess and solve problems in the financial and actuarial industry, to analyse and develop sophisticated mathematical models as well as to implement them in practice.

Entry requirements

This is a challenging programme so you�ll need a good 1st degree (2.1 Honours or equivalent) in Finance, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a subject with substantial mathematical content. Applications from international students are welcome; international qualifications will be evaluated in line with the National Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) guidelines. Students whose 1st language is not English will require either: An IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component); or TOEFL IBT 88 or above with minimum scores in components as follows: Listening and writing 21; reading 22; speaking 23; or International Baccalaureate Standard Level (Grade 5); or Hong Kong use of English AS Level C; or India Standard XII 70 per cent or above from Central and Metro State Boards; or WAEC C4-6.

Stochastic modelling in insurance and finance; finance and financial reporting; statistical methods in insurance and finance; mathematical risk theory; computational methods in finance; interest rate theory; life contingencies; quantitative risk management; dissertation.
