Advanced Transdisciplinary Design - taught in London at University of Liverpool in London

This is an innovative programme that is a collaboration between the schools of Architecture and Engineering. This programme brings together the best of design teaching from different professions; from Industrial and Product Design, Architecture, alongside facilities at the technological forefront of digital design including Virtual Engineering, Virtual Reality and Rapid Prototyping. It links the knowledge and experience held by industry partners with the University�s research strengths. This programme draws on the knowledge, expertise and networks that have been developed within the University as part of the Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC). The VEC delivers technology development and the latest research, training and knowledge transfer around the application and adoption of advanced modelling, simulation and 3D immersive visualisation in support of product design and manufacturing innovation. Visiting lecturers from leading design practices and industry will contribute to the programme as guest lecturers, with current research, and demonstrating real-life case studies. This programme offers a semester at our campus in China, Xi�an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.

Entry requirements

You will normally need to have a Bachelor�s degree (with Honours) at 2.1 level or better in an appropriate field of study. Students whose 1st language is not English will require either: An IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component); or TOEFL iBT 88 or above with minimum scores in components as follows: Listening and writing 21; reading 22; speaking 23; or International Baccalaureate Standard Level (Grade 5); or Hong Kong use of English AS Level C; or India Standard XII 70 per cent or above from Central and Metro State Boards; or WAEC C4-6.

Course modules

Modules include: Presenting design research; design project 1; managing new product development; digital design and simulation technologies; user-centred research and design; design appreciation 1; research methodology; design project 2; innovation and entrepreneurship; group new product development project; design appreciation 2; thesis (dissertation, design by research or design).
